23 Years In, a Biz Dev Chief Joins a $12B-AUM AM's Board, And ...

A 23-year company veteran is joining the senior leadership team and board of a $12.1-billion-AUM (as of September 30), 36-year-old mutual fund firm near Portland, Oregon.

Richard William Clark
Jensen Investment Management
Managing Director, Business Development
Last Thursday (October 31), Eric Schoenstein, managing director and portfolio manager at Jensen Investment Management [profile], revealed that business development chief Richard Clark has been promoted to managing director of the Lake Oswego, Oregon-based asset manager and joined its board of directors. The Jensen team confirms that Clark "will help guide the firm's strategic growth initiatives, including the recently launched ETF." (Jensen's 1st ETF debuted back in August, less than three months ago, as previously reported.)

Schoenstein describs Clark's appointment as "a natural progression," part of Jensen's "long-term strategy."

"His deep sense of stewardship, his understanding of our quality investment approach and strong client relationships will be instrumental as we continue to grow our business while maintaining our unwavering focus on long-term, risk-adjusted returns," Schoenstein states.

Clark, for his part, adds that he's "honored to take on this new role." He'll be one of six board members at the employee-owned boutique.

"Our commitment to nurturing long-term client relationships has been an integral component of our success," Clark states. As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to this proven approach, helping our clients navigate the challenges of today's volatile market environment with confidence and clarity."

Clark's promotion comes as another Jensen managing director, Schoenstein, is preparing to retire next year, as previously reported.

Val Jensen, the fund firm's eponymous founder, hired Clark in 2001, according to the Jensen IM team. Earlier, Clark worked as an FA with Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, and he worked at a youth shelter. He is an alumnus of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and of the University of North Texas.
